Program
Program Rationale
It is our aim to provide the most reasonable tuition possible in aviation training. With the combination of the following, we will be able to offer an excellent learning environment to attain the highest aviation standards possible:
- Well-equipped aircraft and classrooms at an operational airfield.
- Highly qualified and experienced staff.
- Training tailored to CAA and IQA regulations and industry needs.
- Collaborative arrangements with other tertiary providers which would lead to diploma and degree qualifications.
Students will have the opportunity to evaluate courses, and we will readily respond to their suggestions provided these are practicable in terms of safety and CAA regulations.
Program Target Group
- Indian Nationals.
- Non–Resident Indians.
- International students.
Our Integrated Approach
Adult Learning professionals such as Dr. Howard Hendricks emphasize that the best learning is experiential, involving all the senses. “I hear, I forget. I see, I remember. I do, I understand.”
This is doubly important where English is a 2nd or 3rd language. In such a context where there are few technical experiential hooks to hang new learning on, GATI seeks to use culturally appropriate Adult Learning Principles to maximize the students’ educational experience.
A good education program understands the student’s needs and meets them where they are at, taking them on a journey that fits their culture, habits and learning styles, with the end goal of arriving at a clearly defined destination that meets all the standards and requirements necessary.
In a nutshell, GATI will take the curriculum taught in programs such as at Prairie Bible Institute/Prairie School of Mission Aviation and put it into an experiential framework appropriate to India. Students who finish the GATI program will have developed proficiency in the biblical and technical learning methodologies such as those used at Prairie.
Program Objectives
GATI envisions offering four diploma programs. The Diplomas are:
- Aviation Science (Air Instruction)
- Aviation Science (Management)
- Aircraft Maintenance
- Aviation Safety
Strategic Plan
GATI seeks to bring quality Christian aviation training to India by operating a Bible College in conjunction with an aviation school. The goal is to produce committed, well-trained, Christ-like disciples that have the appropriate knowledge and skill to integrate into the Indian aviation world. GATI will be self-sustaining financially in 2-4 years, with the plan to reproduce the school in another part of India within 4 years. When two or more schools are operating effectively and efficiently in India, consideration will be given to beginning another school in another part of Asia.
GATI will implement their strategic plan by focusing on the following three educational area:
- Bible training;
- Character transformation through a purposeful, applied discipleship program;
- Aviation training.
The Business Plan
Initially, GATI will as much as possible use personnel “self-supported” or “on-loan” from other organizations. As income is generated, either from the school or from supporting agencies, personnel will be hired to complete many of the functions of GATI. As the College grows, revenues from the education provided will make the school self-sustaining. Once this level is achieved, consideration and planning will commence to begin an additional school in another part of India.
GATI will seek to work with PSMA and MAF in using low-time instructors and AME apprentices to give valuable work experience and cross-cultural opportunities. This will be done under close supervision of the CFI and PRM to build the appropriate skills and knowledge needed for their profession and to allow them the opportunity to work and flourish in a culture other than their own.
GATI creates economic opportunities for local businesses that supply the School and our students. In addition, we hope to attract international students and contracts for aviation training.
